GARMIN ASTRO DC-40 DOG TRACKING COLLAR
This rugged, all-weather unit combines a high-sensitivity GPS receiver and VHF antenna into an all-in-one transmitter that works with the Garmin Astro® handheld receiver to safeguard against your dog getting lost.
The all-new DC-40 sports a durable one-inch orange polyurethane collar strap that fits most e-collar receivers — eliminating the need to put two separate collars on a dog.
The DC-40, in combination with the Astro handheld receiver allows you to pinpoint your dog’s position every 5, 10 and 30 seconds. It also has a 120 second option, which prolongs battery life. You can work from 17-48 hours in the field on a single charge.
The DC-40 also comes with a charging cradle. It's easy to snap the collar into the charging cradle, plug it in and when it's fully charged the blinking light will glow a solid blue.
Plus the DC-40 comes with an optional Collar Lock, which uses a four-digit PIN number that helps prevent others from seeing your dog’s whereabouts.
Attach Collar and Go
When teamed up with the Astro 320 or the Astro 220, this system will have you hunting in no time.
You will know if your dog is pointing, sitting, moving or treeing. Where your dog is. Where it’s been. How fast he's moving and how far he’s gone. |

HOW DOES THE GARMIN ASTRO GPS SYSTEM WORK?
The Garmin Astro system has two components:
The Handheld Receiver, which looks like a walkie-talkie; and the Transmitter Collar Unit with the antenna mounted on a collar transmitting via radio signal.
The transmitter collar picks up a signal from the satellites and "knows" its location. It then transmits a radio signal to your handheld receiver with its exact location. Your receiver "knows" where you are and now it knows where the dog is, so it plots the dog's location on your screen in relation to you.
The Astro can track up to ten dogs per handheld receiver at once, and the transmitter collar gives location updates as often as every five seconds. In flat, unobstructed terrain, the Astro transmitter and receiver have an effective range of up to seven miles. Battery life is 17 hours on the rechargeable collar transmitter and greater than 20 hours on the handheld receiver. |
